RIVERTON — Riverton City's program marking the 250th anniversary of American independence is scheduled to continue into mid-December, with two of its remaining items closing in October, according to the city's exhibit schedule and its America 250 events page 12.

The city adopted a commemorative America 250 logo for display throughout 2026, which the city describes as honoring 250 years of the nation's history and the role the community plays in shaping its future 3. Mayor Tish Buroker's message of June 1 said July 4, 2026 would mark the semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and that several events had led up to it; she highlighted the play "1776", said only two cities in Utah were approved to perform it, and stated that parents were asked to leave children under five at home, citing the production's serious nature 4.

Most of the program is at the Old Dome Meeting Hall, 1452 W 12600 S. The exhibit schedule lists "The Road to Liberty," described by the city as a free immersive exhibit on the nation's founding, from June 1 to Sept. 9 in regular hours with a session on Sept. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. 2; the events page lists that run as June 1 to Sept. 11 1.

Running now is "Patriotic Art — Utah Art Teachers: I Teach Art", listed for Sept. 21 to Oct. 21, with an open house on Monday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. 2. The hall's visiting hours are Mondays from noon to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m., with Thursday and Friday visits by appointment; group and school tours are arranged at 385-237-3421 or events@rivertonutah.gov 2. The Ledger reported on Sept. 28 that the show carries work by Jordan School District teachers in a patriotic edition the district said celebrates America 250 5.

Also open is the America 250 Passport to Freedom, listed as running through Oct. 31 and covering eight events. The city says each event attended earns a stamp, that six stamps earn a limited-edition Riverton America 250 medal, that a completed passport is entered in a prize drawing, and that questions go to 801-208-3101 1. A coloring contest tied to the passport offers nine printable pages; the city says a completed page turned in at City Hall during business hours earns a collectible pin and a passport stamp from the Recreation Department 6.

Events already held this year include "A Tribute to America", a patriotic concert listed for Thursday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverton City Park with a full orchestra and combined adult and children's choirs, and food vendors from 5:30 p.m. 7. The events page also lists a teen barn dance on Aug. 21 and a patriotic chalk art festival on Aug. 28, both at the city park; a 9/11 flag remembrance display from Sept. 8 to 14 with educational displays around the park; and a free, untimed 17.76K community bike ride on Sept. 14 that started at Dr. O. Roi Hardy Park on the Jordan River Parkway Trail as part of Jordan River Night, with registration required 18.

Next on the schedule is "The Pen is Mightier: Writing a Revolution", listed for Nov. 2 to Dec. 16 at the Old Dome Meeting Hall and described as 20 curated panels on how Revolutionary-era leaders used printing presses, secret codes, and signals of sound, light and music 2. The state America 250 office says the exhibit is on display on the fourth floor of the Utah State Capitol through December 2026 and features an original copy of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense", published in January 1776, on loan from the University of Utah's J. Willard Marriott Library 9. The office says some 20 panels travel to participating county locations, including museums, community galleries, arts and cultural centers, schools and libraries, through the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Traveling Exhibitions Program, and it lists past stops in Beaver, Box Elder, Davis, Daggett, Kane, Millard, Rich, Summit and Wayne counties 9.

One further entry stands on the city's exhibit schedule: "Utah, America's Film Set: 100 Years of Film and Television", listed for Dec. 21 to Jan. 27, with more information to come 2.
