DRAPER — Draper City will hold a public hearing on Oct. 6 on a request to change the zoning designation of a property near 960 East New Hope Drive, a change that would allow smaller residential lots there.
The notice states the request would move the property from RA1, residential agricultural with a 40,000-square-foot minimum lot size, to RA2, also residential agricultural but with a minimum lot size of 20,000 square feet 1. In plain terms, the switch would cut in half the smallest lot the zoning allows on the property covered by the request, from about one acre to about half an acre.
The hearing will be held before the Draper City Council at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Draper City Hall, 1020 E. Pioneer Road, according to the notice 1. The notice was dated Sept. 24 and attested by City Recorder Nicole Smedley 1. Because the item is noticed as a public hearing before the council, residents may attend and be heard on the request.
The city's notice says the complete notice is posted at the Utah Public Meeting Notice website, on the Draper City website and at City Hall 1. Residents who want a copy of the public notice or have other questions are directed to the city's planning staff, who can be reached at (801) 576-6522 1.
The notice does not state how many lots could be created under RA2 or what the current use of the property is. It also does not describe a recommendation from the Draper Planning Commission or any council position on the request.
Draper City also used the posting to remind residents that they can sign up for email or text notifications about emergencies, traffic and construction alerts, news and events.
